Classic Christmas Toys With a Modern Twist Expected to Make a Comeback This Christmas
This year’s top 12 Christmas toys which are expected to show the healthiest sales figures has been released by the Toy Retailers Association.

Monopoly, Fireman Sam, Sylvanian Families and Lego have all made this years list of toys most likely to be under the Christmas tree.

Many parents would have been anxious to find out what their children’s idea of the ultimate Christmas present would be this year, with fears of expensive electronic toys and games consoles.
Although the average price of this years top 12 Christmas toys has increased by a staggering 50% to £39.41, only small Christmas loans or Xmas loans will be required to cover the cost.
Monopoly Revolution carries on where the traditional game left off, incorporating a battery operated debit card machine instead of paper money, a circular game board and sky-high property prices to reflect London’s property boom.

During the run up to Christmas 1996, toy stores were like a battleground as frantic parents sought high and low for the last remaining Buzz Lightyear dolls.
This year, the toy has been given a jet pack which lights up and blows out air, costing £39.99.
Jet Pack Buzz Lightyear is still expected to cause quite a stir, but not quite the same as the original launch 14 years ago.
There are two Christmas toys which do not appear on the top 12 Christmas toys list but have already sold out in many outlets across the UK.
Dave the Funky Shoulder Monkey is a remote-controlled toy with a repertoire of rude gestures, as well as being able to wave, laugh and burp.
Toys R Us listed the battery-powered monkey among its top Christmas buys across its 580 United States stores, placing extreme pressure on supplies.
Richard North, the entrepreneur behind Wow! Stuff, creator of the toy said the company had just opened a third factory in China, where the toys are made, to cope with the volume of orders.
"It is a nice problem to have," he said. "There has already been extraordinary interest but the US order from Toys R Us has taken us into the stratosphere.”
"We have a television ad campaign due to start November but it is possible we could have sold out in some places by then.”
"Dave is very engaging. He is aimed at the 5-to-12 age bracket but it seems he is just as popular with 12-to-24-year-olds as well.”
The company estimates that it can satisfy only 70 per cent of British demand and less than 10 per cent of demand in the US, where it believes it could sell one million monkeys if it had them available.

Another toy which has caught most toy shops by surprise is the Lotso Huggin Bear, the villainous character from Toy Story 3.
Like the stuffed, cuddly toy in the film, the bear smells of strawberries and is around 25cm in height.
Mr Grant said: "I think a lot of people didn't think a villain would sell well.”
“A lot of retailers have underestimated how popular it would be and haven't ordered enough stock.”
If demand for the Lotso Huggin Bear continues then those families who have to have the toy for Christmas will be requiring an Xmas loan to pay the inflated prices of opportunistic sellers on eBay.
