Royal Wedding Sparks Interest in Flights to the UK as London Hotel Bookings Soar by 40%
The Royal Wedding has expectant tourists using their travel money to book up hotel rooms around the planned procession route of this year’s royal wedding in the hope of spotting the happy couple.
Reservations on and around the royal wedding week of April 29th, have shot up by 40% as holidaymakers clamber to catch a glimpse of Prince William and Kate Middleton, with flights to London also receiving a flood of interest.
The happy couple will return to Buckingham Palace in a carriage procession after their marriage ceremony at Westminster Abbey on April 29th.
They will pass Parliament Square, Whitehall, Horse Guards Parade and The Mall.
“The royal wedding is expected to bring an additional boost to the economy,” said Mr James of Bad Credit Loans 4 You.

According to a spokesman for VisitLondon, the capitals official city and hotel guide, tourists are using travel credit to book up rooms along the parade route well in advance.
He stated; “I think a lot of the hotels along the route are getting fuller.”
“There will probably be about 1,000 new rooms opening in time for the royal wedding, with three new hotels opening with around 300 rooms each.”
The marriage of the Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer which took place in 1981 attracted 600,000 visitors to the streets of London, but this year’s royal wedding is expected to draw even more well-wishers.
Flight bookings to London have jumped for that week in particular according to airline sources.
“We have seen an increased interest in flights and special holiday packages to London for the days surrounding the royal wedding, particularly from our customers in the United States,” confirmed a British Airways spokesman.
“We look forward to playing our part in welcoming people from all over the world to Britain to join in the Royal Wedding celebrations.”
Virgin Atlantic also confirmed that figures for the royal wedding week showed a huge increase in traffic from America, with tourists seemingly keen to use their holiday spending money to see the procession.
But the spokesman wasn’t convinced the rise in flight bookings was solely for holidaymakers to see a part of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding day plans; “We are seeing an increase in inbound bookings but it is difficult to attribute this to the royal wedding alone.”
“LA inbound is up 40 per cent and New York City is up 13 per cent but this could be due to a number of reasons - the Easter school holidays, our annual year-on-year growth strategy etc.”
“There is no particular trend showing major growth inbound before the royal wedding or outbound after the royal wedding.”
