Christmas Mayhem Plotted by Rail Militants to Affect Sales and Festive Holidays
Rail unions have targeted helpless families looking to embark on a Christmas getaway and also those looking to take advantage of Boxing Day sales with a series of strikes.
London Underground have today again, urged workers to reconsider their strike action aimed over the Christmas period which is sure to bring untold misery to thousands.
The militant walkouts are aimed at preventing people from travelling on 23rd December to stay with relatives and also to stop shoppers reaching the sales three days later.

Tube workers in London are striking over demands for triple pay and a day off in lieu for those working on Boxing Day.
Union militants have been accused of ‘holding people to ransom’ by making a move which has been branded by Underground bosses as ‘disgraceful’.
Traditionally shoppers make a special trip from outside the capital, travelling to London in order to take advantage of the sales at major department stores on Oxford Street, Regent Street and other big shopping centres.

The Boxing Day Tube strike comes after militant staff from the ASLEF union backed industrial action by nine votes to one, threatening disruption to Christmas shoppers and football fans in the capital.
Keith Norman, general secretary for ASLEF, said; “It is painfully obvious to any reasonable person that Boxing Day is not an ordinary working day and therefore it is no surprise that ASLEF members have reacted in the way they have.”
Transport for London said; “It is disgraceful that ASLEF should try to hold Londoners and London Underground to ransom in this way.”
“London Underground has a long-standing agreement with all of its trade unions which cover staff working arrangements on bank holidays, and Boxing Day is included in that agreement.”
“London Underground has made every effort to resolve this issue with the ASLEF leadership, which has refused to attend talks at ACAS to discuss its claim.”
Mick Whelan, a union official said the strike revolved around a dispute arising from the fact that London Midland was formed from two previous franchises, Silverlink and Central Trains.
Mr Whelan said; “We have been negotiating for three years to harmonise the conditions of drivers from the two companies, over 600 in all, but our efforts have been resisted by management all the way.”
Theresa Villiers, Conservative Rail Minister, said; “Passengers would be the innocent victims of these strikes. I would urge the unions to find another way to resolve this issue.”
